The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Explore competition course engages students in grades 1–3 in a hands-on learning experience that introduces them to the exciting world of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Working as teams, young participants explore real-world challenges, design solutions, and create models using LEGO bricks and the LEGO SPIKE Essential kit. This course emphasizes the FIRST Core Values—teamwork, discovery, inclusion, innovation, impact, and fun—fostering curiosity, creativity, and resilience while empowering students to solve real-world problems. It also encourages a strong sense of community-building as participants collaborate, share ideas, and support one another, creating a positive and inclusive environment. By tackling challenges together, students build, code, and innovate, sparking the young engineers inside them while laying the foundation for lifelong learning, meaningful connections, and a passion for STEM.
